The good Doctor asked me to tell you all that he thanks you for your replies, and that he is heartened by your enthusiasms.

Did he do that via a seance, Phil?
I think this poem should be the CD Relationships Forum Anthem! Somebody set it to music.
Pure genius!

Yes, but no doubt you've done him proud, no?

I try, I really do.
Ever since I was a wee lad I've loved the Dr's works. I hold him totally responsible (well, him and later Robin Williams) for my manic phases.
I just checked my files - I have a little over 100 Seuss parodies I've written over the years , but this was of course a fresh one.

I almost choked when I saw the title to this thread... because just the other day, I was digging around online about Dr. Seuss.
Did you know, that his wife did the majority of the narrations for his cartoon creations while they were supporting themselves through the war? Helen Palmer, the wife who later commited suicide, after being diagnosed with cancer, after catching her beloved having an affair with a lady that later married him, after his wife's "window" papers were finalized? She continues to soak up the money that Dr. Seuss and his former wife made, long after the 2 of them passed away, sitting in a mansion, having cut off any money to the children's foundation that he had devoted the majority of his income to. She also disowned her 2 daughters and had them sent to a private boarding school for the remainder of her second marriage, out of convenience, and to this day, admits freely she was a home wrecker, and a bad mother, but has lived her life the way she wanted, and that is all that is important.
I was looking this up online while I was at work, and was shocked! I'm thinking the only reason they haven't made a movie over such a sad circumstance, is due to the effect it would have on the children who all came to love him dearly, for work that apparently was his first wife's Helens, who never recieved the proper credit.
Random thought.. but interesting information nonetheless!

I can't help but think that somewhere in Hollywood, at this very moment, there's a script idea making the rounds for this very movie. Children be damned - if it brings in money the film will be made. Probably have Angelina as the home-wrecker, Julia Roberts as Helen and Brad Pitt as Geisel.

Quite interesting. Sad...but interesting. But hey, if it made THEM happy, who are we to pass judgement? She claims she's made up with her daughters now, so all is right with the world, right?

Thank you , thank you, thank you! Coming from someone who has, in the past, been in a string of horrible relationships, I thouroughly enjoyed your Seuss prophetic prose!

As a satire of the participants on this forum, it's not bad. As an _homage_ to Dr. Seuss, it's not good. You need to get a better handle on scansion and rhythm if you want to write in the style of Seuss. Imitating his characteristic wordplay is probably too much to ask, but you should at least grasp the basics of how to write metered verse if you're going to do this kind of thing. Making it rhyme is not enough.
