Marital Sex..Is it Supposed to Get Stale? (wife, marriage, women)

I definitely need some opinions and advice on this one. We have been married for five years, and I feel like we have hit a wall as far as sex goes. The wife's idea of sex is generally the same position,late in the evening after the kids go to bed and nothing else. I am quite the opposite.....I would love to try new things, everything from lingerie,accessories (not sure if i could use the "T" word on this forum),just anything spontaneous that would break the monotony of our routine.
I have tried to talk to my wife about how I feel, inevitably the conversation turns into an argument and nothing is achieved,absolutely no compromise. It's basically the same old, vanilla sex or leave it. I feel incredibly frustrated and somewhat rejected. I'm not the type to go out and seek extramarital, I work hard and provide a good income for our family. All I'm asking is for a little spice in the bedroom. Am I being unreasonable?

what if you could just take her to a hotel nearby. get a sitter and take her out for the evening. being out of the house and away from the kids may help her relax more.

I have been married 20 yrs. There is nothing sexier than a husband who will go to his wife and says, Lets go talk to Our Father because I don't want anything coming between us. Bingo..it's toys. I was just trying to keep it somewhat clean. I could get graphic and detailed to no end, but I think the point remains.
