Isn't this the funniest way to represent compromise?!

Mixed Drinks

I like tea, and you like coffee
So it was clever of you
To combine the two
And make us a cup of hot toffee
(even though it tasted like mud)

Funny Family Poems ~ Mixed Drinks, A Poem about Relationships

Is that what compromise ends up being? What are your thoughts?

Compromise? What the hell is compromise?

Actually, my wife has a saying: "What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine." Now that's compromise.

Cute. As my grandmother used to say "Compromise is when everyone is unhappy because no one got their way".

lol- in my case, I ended up with mud...two complete opposites- oil and vinegar, cannot mix....

But if you are married to a decent person, I guess it's different (I wouldn't know, yet, maybe second time around....lol)

I'm in about the same boat; hence, my curiosity about the mud.

Coffee and tea are usually cited as being opposites, yet consider -

  • Both are solids that are imbibed as liquids
  • Both contain caffeine
  • Both can be prepared hot or cold
  • Both are available in many flavors
Seems that so-called "opposites" actually have many similarities...

As for compromising - nope, I don't roll that way. Why should I? I'm always right.

You remind me of George Carlin's book I picked the other day. He was talking about fruit-flavored tea and said something like - I find fruit and fruit juice to be the most reliable sources of fruit taste. If you want fruit taste, get fruit!

We know, we know your first and last name. What's your middle name?

Ah, but in a world where everyone wants everything to taste like something else, no one can hope to taste one thing that tastes only like itself. Right?

well, when the mud gets--too unliveable or...intolerable, It time to.....do something. In my case it was a matter of being happy (once in awhile, lol) versus being miserable each week and arguing about ridiculous things....life is just too short.
