Kinda. I'm attracted to individualists. Not people who are just find new and different ways to be kooky, as if to say, "Hey! Look at me! I'm an oddball, and here's proof!" For people like that are just preening too hard, putting all their energy into being different. For different isn't the same thing as interesting. I've known a lot of people who look conventional who hold offbeat, even subversive, viewpoints. And a lot of people whose carefully scripted differentness hides a dull person on the inside.

Of course, the people who are different on the inside are harder to find. That actually takes work.

I'm drawn to such people, too. I view it as a problem.

While I can't say that they have all been long lasting friendships, yes I like the types you describe. In a "Butterfly Effect" sort of retrospect I wish I could go back and affect the lives of the ones drawn in to the not all that it was cracked up to be 70's. A guy I knew was a real brain, sloppy, spit when he spoke, nerdy sort that I knew was going to be an IBM executive one day but he came home one day and found his sister, both wrists slashed, dead in the bath tub. I don't think he ever moved out of his moms home.
When I was sent to work in Macon Ga my wife and I were staying at a motel and I got a call to come down to the bar from this guy Jake that we were going to work with. We were having drinks when this guy walked up and introduced himself. With in a minute Jake was pounding this guy in the face. The guy ran to the bar to get us all drinks and chips, came back and was all friendly. When the guy was out of earshot Jake said he was glad the fight didn't last long because he was real winded...lol He was a hoot to work with because he would make the customers ring an imaginary volume bell when he sold a large order.
They were all interesting and I knew many more but none had particularly happy endings.

I once dated one guy that I guess you could call eccentric. He was a bit of a nerd and wore like highwaters with very colorful socks and a hat with a bunch of pins. Everything was colorful. and it was fun because i always had stuff to look at lol.

If its a party, I find im usually attracted to the person having a dance party with themself in the middle of the room. Now, if i only had courage to talk to that person. : )
