Default Doing stuff you're supposed to do

I need to rant here. Do you guys ever get tired of doing things your "supposed" to do. Things ranging from b-day parties to office going away parties to any other thing you have to do to be considered "polite".

It's like life is too short to spend time doing crap you don't want to do. My life is really pretty simple in general but sometimes....

I don't want to come off as rude but does anyone else feel this way??

I do like people and in general you won't find me in a tower armed with high powered weapons, or maybe......

Yep. That is why I am self-employed and choose to remain 2400 miles away from my parents/family.

Remebering elaine's(seinfeld) "cake party" freak out....lol

Yeh..I freaking hate those suppose to do things.

A party should feel like a party..not labor.
I get annoyed at these things but generally I dont really care for the people they contain that much in the first place who are always somewhat rude anyway. So I dont really care about being cold/rude back.

Sometimes tha "pomp and circumstance" of life is a downer but I figure it is just a small amount of time and I always seem to have fun...well, unless the MIL is involved.

Read my mind. I know once we get there we'll have a good time. It's just the expense of flying and hotels and getting ready. We have a cat that we need to get a person to look in on. He's diabetic so he can't just be left alone.

Aside from this b-day, just other stuff too you know. So and So's having this or that.

Yep. My in-laws always laid this incredible guilt trip on my wife if we didn't come to Friday night dinners. To hell with that. It's the weekend. That problem finally was eliminated when they moved.

ellie has a brilliant future
ellie has a brilliant future
I sometimes hate having to do some of the things I'm supposed to do, too. I feel guilty and irritable all at the same time.
Like tonight, I told a friend I'd go to the bar where she's just started working and hang out for awhile. Well, I don't want to go out tonight. My back hurts and it's a long drive.

The people who will be there are the same old people I always see there and there aren't any fun men to flirt with . So no, I'm not going to go out tonight.
