In Holland we call this emancipation and many feminists, gays & lesbians were an important part of the emancipation movement.
Probably because homosexuals & lesbians know how it feels how the women must have felt before the 1st sexual revolution (and the pill) hit the Western world.

No news here; it's evolutionary biology. Men are biologically programmed (via libidos driven by testosterone) to spread their sperm as much as possible; women are biologically programmed to be more selective in choosing a mate. Both biological functions help reproduction of the species -- at their root levels, men are driven to produce "quantity" of offspring while female selectiveness works to improve "quality" of offspring.

The resulting psychology and sociology that derives from these biological facts are clear: men are usually more interested in sex, women typically place greater emphasis upon relationships, citing just two examples. Lots of exceptions to these "rules" of course, but the trends are clear.

Yes, it's good nobody has to be stuck with someone they don't love anymore. I wish people had more faith in unconditional love though, and didn't just get married to be a "permanent boy/girlfriend". You have to remember when divorce is SO frequent, it makes one's opinion of love and humanity decline, not to mention it's hard if they have any kids (my parents are divorced).
