When I was growing up my parents divorced when I was a baby. I lived with my mom 95 percent of the time. I would spend weekends with my dad and he would a lot of the time come by and take me to school. That type of stuff.

I didn't have any brothers or sisters so it was just me and mom. While growing up I had the "idea" that my mother was a warm and caring mom.

She died about 2 years ago and since then I've done some thinking about how I was raised and some of the ways my mother treated me and I gotta say I think I've got some major issues because of her. I suppose it shouldn't be much of a surprise really.

The reason why I'm posting this is because of the thread that jerZ posted about her son breaking up with his first love.

When I was heartbroken at around 18 my mom was no where near as supportive as the OP was towards her son. My mom pretty much said suck it up. I remember one time I was moping around the house trying to talk to her about it and she pretty much told me not to bug her while she was reading!!

There was a few other things that she said to me over the years that I didn't realize at the time how emotionally distant she was. She was seriously efed up as a person. Probably way worse that I even understand today. I think that explains a few things about my life.

I suppose though she did the best she could with what she had, being basically single mom is pretty tough.

It's just funny how we get older we realize our parents flaws.

This isn't much of a relationship issue, but man I'm having a hard time sleeping these last few weeks.

Sometimes it's stuff on my mind, other times just laying there and can't quite get fully asleep. Do you guys ever do that, lay there and be partial awake??

Yep. My husband works 3rd shift, so I have to sleep alone.
I have tried those tylenol pm a time or two, and found that they help me sleep, and stay asleep.

That 3rd shift crap sucks. Sorry for you. I wish companies didn't do that type of stuff.

Ya I've used the tylenol PM stuff a couple of times. Don't like to take anything out of fear of "needing" them.

My husband takes something called ambien. He had to get a prescription for that though, to help him sleep during the day.

That sux.
I decided to get a day shift job. My son is in school all day, so we decided that this would be the best shift for him to work, if we wanted any kind of family life with us. He could sleep, until we start rollin` in.....
