It's definitely not one of the best. I didn't take pictures as being safe and being able to see something was more important to me (meaning no purse!). I've gotta say I'm impressed the cops manage to keep such a drunken mob under control, though! There were cops and security from out of town for the event. There was a shooting the last day in the most unlikely location, though - way uptown. Boring sierra tried to keep it safe for the most part and managed to get out in one piece.
So, what's a girl hafta do to get beads like that?

Actually, I deliberately didn't look up the balconies on Bourbon and still managed to get a nice throw. It had hearts on it. Might be a sign of trouble to come...

That's the thing locals are annoyed about. The frat party on Bourbon really has nothing to do with Mardi Gras per se. The parades don't even go through the French Quarter since the 70s. Only a few insignificant ones with no floats do and that's many days before Fat Tuesday.
