Sorry for your loss, Chow. Hope you are able to share some good memories with your family in the coming days.....
Have you ever read "Gone From My Sight" by Henry VanDyke? It's a very nice, short poem that says a lot.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Chowhound, and though I haven't been around this forum for too long, I just wanted to let you know that your family has my deepest condolences. All the best.

Really makes you think that life is short.

I've always heard that saying and it never meant much to me until I got a wee bit older.

I hope everyone on the forum is healthy and doing well.
Chow, I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss...keeping you in our hearts here.

Thanks all for the well wishes. I hope his wife and family deal with it properly for lack of a better term. I know that they've been on the edge for many months. I couldn't imagine the pain that they must be going through.

I don't know if I have the strength that some people do.

Update on the inlaws...my FIL called my eldest son(15) last night and told him to "screw college and join the Army"...huh?

No, I didn't know about it until early this morning when I was driving carpool...he has a neurological disease so I am wondering if he is suffering from dementia or something. I am waiting to tell my husband when he gets home to see how he is going to handle it...odd remark, huh??

To say the least... Of course, plenty of people would agree with it without having dementia...

Well, you are right about that! My FIL went to college and med school so it's not like he was in the military and was thinking about it as a legacy or something...Crazy remark...I'm still scratching my head over it.
