Thanks all for the well wishes. I hope his wife and family deal with it properly for lack of a better term. I know that they've been on the edge for many months. I couldn't imagine the pain that they must be going through.

No, I didn't know about it until early this morning when I was driving carpool...he has a neurological disease so I am wondering if he is suffering from dementia or something. I am waiting to tell my husband when he gets home to see how he is going to handle it...odd remark, huh??
To say the least... Of course, plenty of people would agree with it without having dementia...
Well, you are right about that! My FIL went to college and med school so it's not like he was in the military and was thinking about it as a legacy or something...Crazy remark...I'm still scratching my head over it.
