Ever been on a cruise with someone that gets sea sick?
My wifes a lot of fun but she has a tough time on water, she takes dramamine but even that doesn't get it if the waters rough. As I remember our cruises to the Bahamas went fine because the waters are fairly calm and the ship was large but our chartered cruises on smaller ships to out lying barrier reefs and on our snorkeling trips have been another story, the year before last we took our kids to Key Largo to show them how beautiful the reefs are and while we were all above the reef taking pictures of the bright colored fish, shark and barracuda she was chumming off the steps to the top deck. I know she enjoys it a great deal even though she has problems at times because she was telling me the other day she wants to go back again soon. My kids were horrified and some of the other guests had concerns and I was wondering if anyone knows of something that works better than Dramamine.

Yes - staying on dry land! OK, couldn't resist it as I fail to see the appeal of cruises.

Yes - have her go see her doctor. There is a patch she can wear behind her ear that lasts up to 3 days. I have these patches for vertigo! They work really, really well. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the medication right off hand. It is by prescription only.

Reason: Had to add in the part about 'prescription only'.

Thanks Twinkle Toes, I've never heard of that but I'll make it a point to tell her tonight, wonder if she has?
No sense in suffering right?

Has she tried those bands worn on the wrists? I tried those when I was pregnant and could not take dramamine and they worked. She could do both bands and dramamine.

Do I count? My husband and I went on a cruise for our 25th anniversary and I spent most of it in the bathroom. About the time my sea sickness started to let up, aunt flo arrived

My DW takes Bonine (available at WalMart & Walgreens). You start taking it before you cruise and continue while on board. It works well for her.
