Just been reading an article about the subject.
Divorce: Women who walk (http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/family/11329451.html - broken link)
Statistics show it is much more likely for the wife
to file for divorce 70% to 30% for the husband.
Why is this ?
Adultery is split 50/50 between the sexes as a
reason to file for divorce,so I know its not that.
So what is it?
Are us Men just so bad at it?
Are a Woman's expectations are just to high?
Doe's anyone here have the answer,or
can some of you ladies give us men some
advice on how to make a marriage work.
Sounds like we need it.
For decades men have had the managerial jobs and let their secretaries (women) do all the filing work. It was always nice to watch her bend over to file something in the bottom drawer. A great adrenalin rush in mid-afternoon!
Women have more experience at filing. Is that an answer?
One of my bf's is now separated from her husband. She will most likely file papers within the next year. He has't held perm employment the past 4-5 years and he has bi-polar diagnosis. She's spent the last 3 years in counseling, really fighting for her marriage, but what can you do? In short, he's gone crazy. The stuff he has pulled the past few years has been unbelievable. And he's abusive to boot, tho that's not surprising with folk that have mental illness I guess.
Actualy, women cheat MORE than men, according to recent studies and surveys, which is not exactly a shock to someone who has been observing life for awhile. In all fairness, they have an easier time cheating than men do. The women file for divorce, because most only want to get married but not really be married.
Probably better schools than you went to. If I was a UoP grad, I don't think my verbal dexterity would be as high as it is. Nor would I speak other languages. It's just not the UoP demographic.
I complain about the current state of affairs between men and women. It has gotten worse, not better. Furthermore, I attribute this, in the end, to M-O-N-E-Y. Women want it and men don't want to part with it needlessly.
The other recognizable feature on this sub-forum is that the women are generally liberal, do not like tradition, and the feminists seek to push the envelope on equality to where it exceeds being equal....read: entitlement. The men who present their points with conviction here are generally conservative, like traditional roles, and think feminism and no-fault divorce should have gone away.
Case closed. Look, there are other interesting sub-forums on which to post.
Case closed on a completely illogical argument. Women need money from men? Not quite. Traditional women need money from men. Liberal women, who tend to be educated professionals, do not need money from men. You guys complain about alimony in one breath and then speak to the merits of traditional women in the next. You're incapable of grasping this rather simple point and yet you think you can speak of the current state of affairs between men and women? It's absurd. Really, people that adhere to gender roles are so lost and that's reflected by your party, your high divorce rates, your bigotry, and your misery.
No, why do you ask? She owns her own business (desktop publishing) and has an office on her property. She brings in decent money 150-200k/yr gross. She has two kids. She's a busy lady and she's not some kid hanging down at the corner store. She's 42 year old woman with a full plate. Do you think she really has time for that crap?

There's always a reason as to why some marriages get violent. It could be the result of infidelity, someone provoking another, putting that person down, or occasionally criticizing someone's efforts.

Violent? What are you talking about? Do you know what bi-polar is?

So - basically - everything is always the woman's fault? He beats her - but she deserved it! Why does this not surprise me!

A mental illness, I assume. I never majored in health. And you were talking about her husband being abusive.
