I'd be friends with but not date a man in a shelter. But it really depends on what he's about and why he ended up there. If it was because his house got foreclosed on, then it's due to poor decision making (like buying more house than he could afford) and poor money management (not having a rainy day savings account). And I'd want to know that he was able to get on his own two feet on his own before I would consider a romance with him. I don't want to be anyone's crutch. How could I trust that he's not trying to use me to get out of that shelter?
Also it's my age. Being almost 50, I don't want to have a relationship with any man that doesn't have his adult life together by now. And living in a shelter is not having your act together. And yes, we're in a depression right now, but I know plenty of people that are in decent financial shape because they've had their home a long time, they didn't overpay for it and they actually have equity in it and didn't foolishly re-fi it for the cash. They also don't run out and lease or buy new luxury cars. There are sensible guys out there, and that's the kind of guy that I want in my life.
You'd be surprised who ends up in shelters some times. Life can deal people blows they never imagined.
This is really true.....my dad was good friends with this guy he knew from HS......this guy was the CEO for some major company......OMG his estate was mind blowing up in the hills of the ritziest part of Scottsdale......until his company was brought up on fraud charges (he says he didn't have anything to do with it) but the company ended up going under and being shut down.....last I heard, he had filed bankruptcy, had his home taken away and had to spend a few nights in a shelter before being put up in some ghetto motel.........talk about Riches to Rags!
R.D.A is correct. If you talk to some of the guys I work with it would blow your mind as it relates to what some of the guys have accomplished.

I wonder if homeless guys run ads. Something like:
Unemployed, Unemployable psychopathic junkie seeks tall executive type women of means for dating and possibly more.
Geez, Rcm, learn some PC for cryin' out loud! Nobody's unemployed - they're underappreciated "in transition" or "self-employed" folks; "business owners," too.

I know you won't find this hard to believe, and I'll probably regret asking but whats PC?
