Wow. I mean, I don't live under the illusion that Birmingham is the dimple of the Universe, but 1.2 million live here. I think you'd have to be willfully ignorant to live in this country and have never heard of Birmingham.
I like B'ham. I went there for a few concerts and it was pretty cool (except for the night someone got pistolwhipped right outside of the venue.

I have had folks tell me they have never heard of Richmond!! Oh well...most people associate Richmond with high murder rates rather than our history...

Yeah, it's a great town. Kind of a diamond in the rough. Were you at the Nick or Sloss Furnaces? The crowd at both those places gets rough from time to time. No PTA Moms to be found there, I tell you what.
A little coda to my story. I was driving my son to soccer practice yesterday evening and the grounds of the high school was festooned with these same signs.
My son asks, "What's with all the Anti-Drug signs?"
"So you don't take drugs, son."
"Well, I already know that."
"And what would happen if I caught you using drugs?"
"Well, if I am lucky, I would die."
So, I think my own Anti-Drug program has, so far, proven far more effective than some stupid plastic yard sign.
I like your program and will more likely use it too! Good for you and your son. When they try to be up in your face about it, that is just too much!

Hah, I've been to Zydeco, and a little place called Cave 9 -- that's where the pistol whipping happened.

Zydeco...most stories than I like to admit there.
