A debate can be really rude in my opinion. People often do not care for other people's ideas, search for others who will agree and validate their views, and gang up on those who have differencing points of views. It usually turns rude when that happens and people start glaring at each other and speaking to each other in different tones of voices. You speak to the person who agrees with you in a nice tone of voice and you speak to the person who does not agree with you in a cutting and degrading tone and you try to disprove and bring their ideas down into the ground. I've seen it happen so many times.
Sharing different points of views in a friendly way is not really so much a debate. It is a forum for discourse is more like it. Nobody is really wrong unless we are talking about math formulas where there is really only one or two ways of doing it.
You are right, Artsy. I've caught myself doing this. I have to constantly remind myself to keep the flaps of my mind open and an open-mind to other ways that just might be more beneficial than my own. My way is certainly not always the best way - because it's not the only way.
Haha, oh I'm not too worried about that. Don't get your hopes up anyway. I don't think I've ever been rude, just disagreeable
