Thumbs down Anyone fed up with seeing an old pal and then being hit up with some type of sales pitch?

Seems like everyone is selling something! I don't mind helping out pals and buying some products, but it is a little much to hit someone up after not seeing them for a long time. It happened to me yesterday coming out of the post office. Herbalife-ug!

Seems like that great big smile and hello is always more about the sales pitch!!! Has happened to me too many times to count. So far it has been: Herbalife, Melaluka, Mary Kay, Team International, Candles, Home Interior products, Breads, vitamins, cars, etc.

And well, I don't sell anything! My smile and warm "So glad to see ya" is just that!!!

Anyone else feeling this same frustration?

Lol.. This has been happening to me recently with a very good friend. She left me a voicemail saying that she had a great "opportunity" for me.. I was thinking it was a job or something, but it was actually a very expensive energy drink that she wanted me to buy and sell. She tried to get me to watch all of these cult-like videos online and seriously got annoyed when I lacked interest. More recently she was texting me how she really thinks I should get on board with the program. I told her that I didn't have the money, the time, or the energy to put in to it. She told me that I did have the money and the time (how would she know lol?) and that the drink brings the energy. Now keep in mind that this is probably one of my top 5 closest friends.. Next she tells me that it tastes great, makes her want to work out, and it's fun pouring the drink for people that you love and care about.. I felt like I was in a commercial

I can relate to an extent. I don't have a problem supporting friends and neighbors. So far this year I was invited to a jewelry party to buy jewelry and one to sell my gold, both of which made the host money. My neighbor asked me to host another Mary Kay party but I only had three people at the one last year.

Then there is my friend. I was feeling rather frustrated by her unavailability lately. We had not really had a good conversation in weeks. She sent me something on an email presentation and asked me to view it. I figured it was one of those multi-level marketing schemes and I'm really not interested, but she kept asking me to look at it. To top it off, after I showed my frustration with her not being available to talk, she ended up telling me to call her after I looked at the presentation.

I have decided to stay away from these presentations and parties. I don't think most people like to be solicited to buy into anything, and I hate inviting people to stuff and then they don't come. I don't mind going to an event to support a friend sometimes but I won't be hosting anything else.

LOL..........I had a guy at work try to sell me some meat. I was totally pissed off. He keep "pushing".

About 2 weeks ago he put a box of meat in the kitchen freezer where I work, I have no idea where it disappeared to but I did not want it to start with.

He's a volunteer and this guy looks shady. His hands are always dirty.

I absolutely can't stand sales pitches. It is a serious pet peeve of mine. I'm thinking about buying a new car pretty soon, and just the thought of walking on to a car lot makes my skin crawl.

The car salesmen are like vultures.

Post Script: It doesn't seem to matter if one is male or female (with the Mary Kay, Candles, Pampered Chef, etc!)

I know what you mean, I hate that.

But is there any chance I could interest you in purchasing this energy drink from me every month? It's proven to increase your health and I think you'll really like it. We're long-lost brothers, you and I. Trust me I value your friendship a lot. The question is how much do YOU value it? Because my introductory offer is $50/month, but I figure you for the type of guy who places more value than that in his friends. Am I right? PM me and we can get this thing going!

AmWay, Mary Kay, Cabi, Arbonne, you name it. When you make a friend into a sales prospect, he's no longer a friend.
