His wife is claiming that he is betraying his race because he would not vote for Obama! He views extreme Liberalism as the cause of all of the U.S.'s woes!

Every 4 years they fight like cats and dogs and cannot agree to just dis-agree! They literally scream at each other until they get tired of screaming at each other. Other than politics they have a relationship most people envy!

He should turn that argument around on her and say, "So, is a white guy betraying his race because he won't vote for McCain?"

I just hate that kind of crap.

I got a positive rep for this, although the message was negative.

What I was saying is WHY would you want to be someone whose views you found disagreeable? For what sensible reason would you want to enter a relationship where you have conflict on one issue or another?

That's just crazy!!

So long as it isn't taken personally, I think it might be kinda fun.

This is really a funny thread to me, all of it, although I suppose it shouldn't be.

My wife is my opposite in almost every way, at least she was when we first met. Literally, the list could go for pages. I'm 10 years older for starters. When she was a pot-smoking hippie, I was a staunch Republican business executive, against any form of illegal drugs, free love, and generally all that hippiedom meant. I'm still pretty conservative and she's a flaming liberal. God, do I love her and her whacked out ideas! *LOL*

We agree to disagree on matters of religion and politics. I certainly don't question her morals, and she doesn't question mine.

We made a deal. I make the major world decisions, and she makes the smaller household decisions. I get to pick who we support for president every four years, while she decides everything else that affects us. It works out well for her, since she's never voted in her life and probably never will. And she keeps me in line.

Not agreeing on everything is fine, but asking me to respect someone who goes to the polls and votes like a socialist, no thanks. If a girl thinks abortion is wrong and wants to vote against it, fine, whatever. I can respect her feelings. But if she votes on every new tax increase, votes on socialist programs, etc. Forget that. I don't want to have a friend like that let alone a girlfriend or wife.

Totally agreed, as usual, haha. I don't need that burden in my life, it's just stupid. We need to agree on major issues, at least. I don't expect her to think the same thing as me 100% of the time but she should be in agreement on major issues.

Extreme conservative, extreme liberal. Black, white. Male, female.

This is a joke, right?

I think they had been together for a while before they discovered their political differences. I will ask him though.
