I'm in the process of reading Eckhart Tolle and spirituality in general. Many spiritualist and eastern philosophies talk/ teach that a person is far greater than any kind of "label" that you apply to yourself, such as the conventional stuff like husband, father, your job, position in society etc etc.
They talk about how when you view the world and nature in particular that if you can look at something and not put a label on it, that you actually see it deeper.
That being said, if I were to define myself, I would say that I view humor and comedy as being things very important to me. I also think that family and friends are things that define the way I think.
I used to think about things like work accomplishments as being a defining element for me. I'm really try to look at other "accomplishments" as being more of a defining quality.
Good thread Mrstewart
You made me think today.
And that ain't bad.
The post was worth the wait! How insightful...thank you for sharing.
I think that how you treat people and the size of your heart defines you.
As I was scrolling down, I thought this was one of the better responses. Very nice.
Probably because I've worked so hard at it, I think that my intellectual abilities and inquisitiveness are what people notice. I'd like to think that those qualities have always enabled me to think for myself and be comfortable not following the pack.
What defines you? I immediately think of someone else. Not what defines myself, or what I want, or need.
That's the Mother in you, taking care of everyone else.
Tell us what defines you.
We wont laugh, promise.
