A lot of them can, it's just more "convenient" for them to do it this way. My friend has been to a few grammy and award parties drapped on the arms of some Hollywood guys that paid top dollar...it happens all the time.

The men, many elected officials and appointees, take these women to these black tie and white tie dinners while their wives are back in their home state...don't you think the wives would find out?

Actually, the married guys do it all the time.
Case in point: a few years ago, Oprah wanted to do a show about a trade show in Winston Salem, NC. She tried to interview men in several restaurants, but the restaurants turned Oprah away because they did not want cameras in their establishments. Privately, many of them conceded that the reason why the cameras were not allowed was because many of the men who had come to the trade show were fraternizing with women who were NOT their wives.
Having been to more than a few trade shows myself, I believe it!
*shrug* I don't know, if I was a hot girl and could make $40,000 a year as a secretary let's say or ten times as much as a stripper, I'd be a stripper. Well worth it. It's not like you have to do anything with guys, you just dance around and get objectified, haha.
can you put stripping on your resume once you get old and need a real job? old strippers aren't exactly saught after, especially when there are girls fresh out of high school swinging on the pole next to her.
i don't pay for lap dances unless it is the Dollar Dance! every now and then, they'll announce lap dances for a dollar and all the strippers in the club walk around and give the patrons lap dances...the thing is though they only do it for a minute or so instead of the entire song.
strip clubs are a waste of money...getting all worked up when you can get all worked up and "relaxed" somewhere else...I haven't been to a strip club in over a year. I would find myself spending like $40 on alcohol and like $80 on strippers...what a waste of cash!

that's probably true but for every "high end" girl who retires after 6 years there are like 10 women who are single mothers who have drug problems...a lot of strippers were abused in one way or another...at least at the low end places.
There are also women who get into it for a better life. The woman who's husband has left her with nothing, the single mother who needs to support a special needs child, the single mother who wants to send her kid to college. The woman whose husband in no longer the bread winner because of health reasons. All honourable reasons as far as I am concerend as there us nothing dignifying about poverty and asking for handouts.

Certainly. I was referring to high profile appointees in Washington and celebs in Hollywood. The married ones wouldn't dare take a paid companion to public get together.
