I should also add that living at home through your 20s while not uncommon in Europe, it has negative perceptions in the US. I dont think American women (or men for that matter) view someone who is 30 living at home as someone who can manage their own life. More often perceived as lazy.
White Americans generally do wait to have children. Most wait till they have established careers so they can adequately afford to raise a child, and provide a nice home in a decent area.
If that is so, then how do you explain the fact that more white Americans are on welfare than blacks? I knew this was BS, just had to show you...
Keep in mind, blacks make up about 12% of the US population. Nearly 9 million African Americans receive food stamps each month. This represents a quarter of the African American population.
2.42% of whites are on welfare which gives us roughly 5,445,000 whites on welfare
14.3% of blacks are on welfare which gives us about 5,148,000 blacks on welfare
13.9% of latinos are on welfare which gives us something like 2,518,680 latinos on welfare
You can find plenty more on your own all over the web, plus on government sites, as well.
Americans have the idea ingrained that you in order for you to be a complete person you must be married after you get your Bachelor's degree and live in a two story house with 2.5 kids, 2 SUVs and 2 dogs.
On my facebook, the people I went to college with, well some of them love to flaunt their engagements and marriages on their pages. Good for them, I wish them the best but if you are not married by 25, you get looked at funny.

Seriously, what are Facebook accounts for?? They are to connect with people and let them know about your life...if children and marriages are part of their lives, odds are they will mention them.

None of the ones married have any kids at this point, as they are my age.
No, I do not have a problem about their marriages but they are more concerned with flaunting that then really caring how you are doing in your life, that's what I meant. When I tell them about my life adventures, they could care less, if I were married, they would be all estatic.
They just put those accounts up just to show off. I have never been a big fan of sites like facebook and myspace.

Maybe she is like me and have lived in the US for many years already -
except I'm from Germany already.
I too have noticed this trend - Americans seem to get married earlier and
have children earlier. At least in the area of the US I have lived in. Perhaps parents encourage it more here. Also, many German young people
don't marry much anymore and just live together, whereas that is more
frowned upon in the US. Who knows.

lol true...ALL my "friends" that had those babies...100% Mexican, Salvi, etc...Hispanic.
I can only think of one white friend that has had a baby...he was married, finished college, had a career, as does she. They want to be older I guess.
Even my black friends don't have babies until they are older...then again they have their head on right....college, career, waiting until marriage, financially stable.
Perhaps race doesn't matter...based on my small circle I don't like the statistics, but it is what it is.

Yea, but 14.3% is a lot larger than 2.42%...not saying one is right and one is wrong...but there are waaaaay more white ppl, and they are both +5M...It's not like blacks are 1.5M with white having 5M.
PLus aren't food stamps welfare? If so, how can over 9M blacks get it a month, but only 5M be on welfare?
