Chain Email Letters and the BCC
What do you do when friends never send you personal emails to check in and see how you are doing, but instead, send you these junk chain letters with your email address (along with 20 others) in the To or CC box in full display for everyone to see?
Does it drive you nuts? How do you deal with it?
I find it EXTREMELY rude, so I usually write back and tell them to stop sending me chain letters and to please use the BCC.
What do you do?

I don't like them, I don't send them but obviously it makes the sender happy or useful when they send them, so I just delete them and let them have their fun...Why not???? It does not cost me anything to let them think they are passing on the information or good cheer.

Me, too. I get at least one a day from a friend talking about how I'm going to blow up if I don't send it to at least 15 people. I just delete.

They get one phone call to stop. If you receive another one, they go in the junk filter.

Because it is rude. What even ruder is that they never call to say hello or write me a personal email. It's just these damn chain letters.
I'm done with it.
I refuse to do anything to encourage these nasty chain letters. Even worse is not using the BCC.

It just does not bother me and is not high on my "bother meter"... if it bothers you I would write them and tell them you would like a personal email every now and then instead of a blast chain letter... Do you think the person will take it well?

I don't know. I try to be polite while being to the point. Some take it well, some don't. As long as they stop polluting my inbox, I don't care.

Non issue here. No biggie. Maybe it's their way of thinking about you.

That's my point. They are NOT thinking of me. Because if they were, they would write a personal note.
Some funny emails are okay. It's the chain letters and hoaxes that make me mad. That's when I write back and say, "So WHY are you sending me this trash?"
Issue #2: the displaying of my private email address to all in cyberspace. You don't want me writing your phone number on bathroom walls, do you? Well then, please to not make my personal email visible to everyone!
