I thought been a laidback S.O was ok until someone was dump and later criticized.

Personally I don't mind if my GF or wife is a laidback lover or partner; but what about you?

Yeah... but too laidback is not so good. I for one am sick and tired of being the responsible party regardless of marital situation. Would love somebody to actually take care of things, preferably without screwing them up.

could it be you are being too critical? constantly criticizing how someone does things is a big turn off.

Depends what you mean by laidback. I'm laidback in that I'm very calm and pleasant and easy going, but on the other hand I'm responsible. I show up on time, pay my bills and meet whatever responsibilities I accept.

We might have a terminology problem here. I, and most of the people that I know, consider being "laid-back" a GOOD thing. The opposite would be stressed and Type A. Being laid-back does NOT mean that you are irresponsible, or don't take charge.

I am sure there is a difference in semantics.

A laid back personality is generally one that doesn't get too worked up over things but as with everything it can go to the extreme. A super laid back person might not like to really do much of anything. An example is my BIL, he is super laid back but goes to work on time, never calls in sick, but he has absolutely no ambition whatsoever. On his days off he just wants to chill in front of the TV or sleep. When we go on our family vacation to the beach, he sleeps till noon, and never even goes to the beach. He might go walk around stores for a couple of hours or go out to eat but that is about it. His whole life is about relaxing. As a result he is about 150 lbs overweight but heck, at least his blood pressure is good!

but yeah, the extreme opposite is just as bad. Everything in life is about balance. We all need a little of that type a with a little bit of laid back. But of course the world needs all kinds of people. I didn't answer because I want someone in the middle.

See, to me, that isn't laid back at all...that is simply LAZY. Not the same thing at all, IMHO.
