New Years Party (Woot!)
Ok, I normally don't go out for New Years...in fact, generally just a household celebration thing, maybe with friends due to all sorts of reasons in the past involving small children ,health issues etc.
Anyway, this year...I got a hotel\dinner\party loaded package all under one roof and am taking the gf out for the whole deal.
I am soooo excited....it's been one god-awful past 2 years...what a way to bring a close to that?
What is anyone else doing?

It all sounds great except for what I bolded. Why do so many men say THE wife, THE girlfriend...?! Can't think of even one woman referring to THE husband or THE boyfriend. Is it me or does this choice of words show disrespect? It's like a subtle put-down. What's wrong with MY wife or MY girlfriend? Fear of being accused of possessiveness?! Sorry for choosing to pick on you in particular, MG. Many others on the forum do it as well. What also strikes me as odd in your case is that you have never referred to your wife as THE wife and you're not a sloppy writer in general.

Well I combined Christmas giving with New Years Eve fun-"the boyfriend" [sorry too good to pass up ] is getting tickets to see Jeff Dunham the comedian. It should be fun and what better way to great the New Year than with laughter! Enjoy

Me and my ever loving, sexy, good looking spouse have no idea what we'll be doing....how that? LOL
Probably a nice dinner, a movie and something else. It depends if he's working the next day.

Cat-if you are going to Times Square, you need to get there before 2pm and get ready to stay there all day until midnight. You won't be allowed to get out. Yes, people do use the bathroom there fyi.
It's our 4 year anniversary so we are doing our traditional dinner at Ruth's Chris and then waiting for the new year to ring it in

I think it's a regional linguistic thing. Like Pop vs. Soda.
So to answer your question....yes....it's you.
P.S. I referred to my wife as "the wifey" quite often.

I'll be spending my first New Year's in NYC!! I can't wait! we'll be staying close to Central Park, and doing dinner, dancing, the whole 9 yards! I have spent a NY in Vegas before, which was a fun experience, so I know this one will be awesome!!

I did NYC Times Square right. I had booked a ball dropping facing room at the Marriott Marquis about 9 months in advance and spent the night eating fine dining in room and watching the ball drop from my room drinking champagne. Overall the trip cost me $8K with hotel and flight, etc but well worth it. Would I do it again? Maybe...I also spent NYE in LV at Ceasar's as well. To watch all the fireworks go off from all the hotels at the same time is awesome!!!!
