By drastically different I mean:
1. We are of different races. Ones white, the others not.
2. We are of different educational background. One's ivy league grad with a Master's. The other only has a high school diploma.
3. We are of different profession. One's a high flying professional. The other's a warehouse worker.
4. We are of different economic status. One's dining out in fine restaurants. the other's broke and cannot even afford to buy groceries.
5. We have different circles of friends. One's socializing with bankers, lawyers, and doctors. The other hangs out with construction workers, janitors, and pizza delivery guys.

Is it probable for two persons of such different background to become a couple?

I think relationships are "easier" when you are more similar. If you are drastically different I think it takes a lot more work because you see things differently. You both have to be respectful of the others choices and decisions. If you cannot respect each other for who they are then it will never work.

The biggest deal breaker that will cause a lifetime of grief is major money issues. If one is a spender and one is a saver(and you don't have a lot of money) you will always have problems.

I'm having a hard time imagining how the two people you have described would even meet. Did this Ivy educated person pick up someone at the carwash?

Well, the race part is irrelevant since there are hundreds of thousands of couples from different races so it should not even be part of the discussion. The others (2-5) are not much different either. Each person is different and wants/likes different things.

None of those things would affect any relationship I would be be in.

An example because it fell under all the categories you listed.

lets just say that the ivy leaguer met the other while shopping at costco. the other was replenishing the shelves and the ivy leaguer asked for help, and thats how they met. sounds reasonable?

I have, with all categories. Married the one who most closely fit numbers 3 and 5.

The one that I dated with the difference in economic status was the only relationship that never had a chance. He meant well and was a nice guy, but couldn't enjoy a nice meal or bottle of wine- kvetched about the cost, even when I paid.
