To me rugged means a little rough around the edges...stubbly beard, not a perfect face, not perfect hair...he doesn't primp. Looks sexy wearing jeans, workboots and a tshirt. Weathered face. It's also how he carries himself - not afraid to get dirty.

Rugged good looks is when you look at them you can tell they are hard workers. They don't fuss or primp like a pretty boy. No manicures for them. They are strong but not from the gym, they have calloused hands not softies, they wear jeans and boots because they are ready to work, they are very confident in their ability to survive and thrive.

Yummy, I love a rugged man much better than a handsome soft man.

Oh man, now I'm going to be daydreaming about Mike Rowe all day. My husband and I watch Dirty Jobs all the time. We just watch for different reasons! He is the epitome of Rugged/Sexy.

Personally, my favorites are Mike Rowe, Gary Oldman and Hugh Laurie.

Excellent definition. It also describes the appeal of Daniel Craig.

Looks as if he is more comfortable out of doors, doing something physical. He WON"T look as if he spends hours in the gym, working on various muscle areas. Sure, both might have a good body, but the gym guy has a certain attitude that says...."look at me. Aren't I grand?" It's a real turn-off to me.

My rugged man looks natural, but he has that certain look in his eyes that says he's thinking about me and bed.

That's my idea, too. I'd like to add Clint Eastwood.

First thing in my mind when I see the words, "rugged sexy" is Pierce Bronsnan.

When he had that 5 o'clock shadow! WHHOOO!!!

Rugged is a guy that has extremely masculine features. That doesn't necessarily make him good looking or handsome, though.

A handsome face is something that any man can have, whether he is masculine or feminine.

Given the choice, I'll take the guy I feel comfortable with who floats my boat

So don't get too hung up about the difference between "rugged" and "handsome". They can be mutually exclusive in many, many cases, but the bottom line is, does it really matter?
