Ah. Another shrill response from Dim. Maybe you couldn't handle it, but most adults somehow manage to enjoy a couple of glasses of Merlot with friends without wrecking their lives.
First, there were my early years, a series of academic eclats and dalliances with incredibly beautiful and sensuous women. Then came the uninterrupted upward arc of my career. The awards, the flattery in the press, the articles in the Wall Street Journal, the speaking gigs at various universities. Then, of course, came tidy profits from the sale of my business, the ghost writing, followed by a couple of well-received novels. I am surrounded by adoring friends from all walks of life, chosen for boards because of my insight and wisdom, and the mailbox virtually bursts during the holidays from Christmas cards and invitations to parties. My three wonderful children will, over the next eight years, ascend to their lofty station in life, boosted by their superior intelligence, talents and shockingly high SAT scores. I consult with clients across the country, enjoy the love of a beautiful and extraordinary woman, and look forward to circumnavigating the globe in ten years in my sailboat. What more, I’m 46, have all my hair, and none of it is gray.
I ask you. How could my life be any better? And don’t you wish you were me?
