Now, with some ice wine, I could see it.
Well, we had Mexican beer too, but it just seemed to be a red wine kind of night.

Ah. Another shrill response from Dim. Maybe you couldn't handle it, but most adults somehow manage to enjoy a couple of glasses of Merlot with friends without wrecking their lives.

The awards, the flattery in the press, the articles in the Wall Street Journal, the speaking gigs at various universities. Then, of course, came tidy profits from the sale of my business, the ghost writing, followed by a couple of well-received novels. I am surrounded by adoring friends from all walks of life, chosen for boards because of my insight and wisdom, and the mailbox virtually bursts during the holidays from Christmas cards and invitations to parties. My three wonderful children will, over the next eight years, ascend to their lofty station in life, boosted by their superior intelligence, talents and shockingly high SAT scores. I consult with clients across the country, enjoy the love of a beautiful and extraordinary woman, and look forward to circumnavigating the globe in ten years in my sailboat. What more, I’m 46, have all my hair, and none of it is gray.

I ask you. How could my life be any better? And don’t you wish you were me?

CPG, do you look like Frank Sinatra? You ain't perfect!

No. But my wife says I look like John Cusack. Does that help?

Wow. She must have searched through every single one of your posts, trying desperately to find something that would cast you in a negative light. And THAT is the best she could do? That really says something about what an admirable person you are.

Now if she wanted to find some really juicy dirt, she would have hunted through my thread history!

Yes, thank you, LM. There's always somebody out there who cannot abide magnificence in someone else. Of course, she's too cotton-picking obtuse to realize that she's been snookered.
