Being a parent

When I was a bit older and met the woman who would become my wife, I thought "Ah-hah! Now I understand real love!" I didn't know anything.
When my first child was born, I held her in my arms, and looked at her face. When she looked at me and became peaceful and fell asleep, showing me the true meaning of trust, I finally began to learn a little bit about love.
As my children are growing, and learning, and discovering, I myself am constantly growing, and learning, and discovering. They have taught me more about life and love than I could have learned from any other source.
My fulfillment no longer comes from conquests or from toys. It comes from sharing everything I know and everything I am with these two little beings.
I am finally learning just a little about what real love is.

Being a parent and what it feels like is hard to put into words but you have hit the nail on the head. So well put. (My husband thought so too).
