My dad had a coworker friend of his, he was in his mid 50's and was still a virgin and lived with his parents still.

No I don't see why I should judge someone by his /her sexual status. Some people are more precocious than others, some people genuinely need to fall in before they have sex, some are just too shy . Some have religious reasons not to have sex before marriage.

It really doesn't matter. Why should it ?

I think in many ways I do respect men in particular who chose not to have sex until they are in a serious relationship. There is something rather sweet about a man who does not think every bit of skirt is there for the chasing.

In addition to religion, in the case of a 22 year old, you can also look at age as a possible reason. 22 is not very old at all... Maybe they are not even waiting for marriage but are simply waiting until they grow up a little more...maybe mid 20's or so (a very wise choice IMO).

There's also the possibility that it could be the person's morals that don't have a thing to do with religion. Maybe they are tired of the smut that's so prevalent in our society and think casual sex is tacky they want to wait and devote themselves to one person or only a few people over the course of their lives. Morals and religion don't necesssarily go hand in hand.

I completely agree. Some men obviously take their sexual choices a bit more maturely and responsibly , I would have thought that was good thing considering how sexualised our society has become.


Kudos to them IMO. My fiance always says it is not so much a question of no sex before marriage as no sex before love. I don't see why that should be mocked or derided.

It is sad really that we find a 22 year old virgin something of an oddity and something which might elicit suspicion...
It is a rather bad indictment on our society . And I am an atheist.
