to be in love with someone and yet have the ability to easily walk away from them is they were to betray or hurt you? Does that mean you never really loved them from the start or could it mean that you're just that resilient?

Well.. I'll stick my neck out and say that for me it depends on the situation.. I've done it before and thought I loved that person.. but you know after different things went down.. I walked.. no hesitation.. when the axe fell.. it fell and that was the end of it. Never looked back.

I must have mommy issues because I've found it hard to leave women.

Sometimes you can be in love with someone and you have no choice but to walk away and leave it alone. That's all I'm willing to say about that.

Yes, I did it. And I've thought often about how I managed it as well as I did. I wouldn't call it "easy"...but I was pretty much over the angst within 2 days. I think that in my case, I just wasn't 100%. I certainly loved him, but I also knew that it was not right for me. Maybe my brain just took over.

I think it's possible, but I can only speak for myself, of course. Falling/being in love may not be a choice, but walking away from someone who has hurt you definitely is and it's the choice I'd make. I'm definitely not saying that it would be an "easy" thing for many people, but it could be done.
