Mrs. Chow has a SIL that spends and spends and spends. This woman has a very modest salary yet she lives large. I do a lot better money wise and she seriously out spends us. I mean she's always taking trips to places has the latest gadgets, cell phones etc etc.

She has raided her 401k plan at work about 3 times that we know of, her husband is on disability and they really don't have much money, yet she's always spending. Then she turns around and tells her husband that he can't buy such and such from the grocery store because they "can't" afford it.

Just found out she's taking a 2nd "scrap booking" cruise. She can do this but her husband can't have one of his favorite foods??

Gall I tell ya.

Does anyone else know or have a family member like this.

I call it having champagne tastes on a Budweiser budget

Is she trying to compete with someone else, fill a void in her life, overcome boredom, punish her husband, or is she so self absorbed she does not comprehend what she is doing?

After watching the economy close to collapsing, it seems many Americans were living beyond their means...

To say she has issues would be to put it mildly.

She sent her college age son down to hit up his grandfather for money for his college tution. The grandfather was laying in the hospital didn't know if he was going to make it, and her son is visiting him just for money. They never see this guy at all, have really no relationship with him and he's on his death bed getting hit up for money for school.

Then next month she takes a friggin cruise. She trying to keep it secret from the rest of the family.

She's got a set I set you.

Whoa! that is crazy. She sounds like a nut. You should have Mrs. Chow set up an family email chain to keep everyone abreast of family news and in the course of the email wish nutty sister a great trip "scrap booking" Why bother going on a trip to do that? You can cut paper and use a glue stick in your home

That what's we were thinking. Can't you get together at a church or some other Hall and save 800 or 900 bucks.
