I didn't know women preferred tall men. I'm 5'0" and sometimes wish my husband was closer to my height...no more than 5'5". He's 5'11". I think we'd spend a lot more time kissing/hugging/dancing if he was shorter. I think the ideal height for a man is about 2" to 4" taller than the woman he's with.

I know, but the op asked why men go for that. As a man, who talks to other men, the older ones have the belief that younger girls are tighter on average than older women.

Just how I hear it from other guys.

Me personally: I prefer older women, they have a better idea of what they want. Not much more of an idea, but better than the younger ones.

In my experience, I've found shorter stature men to be a little....hmmmmmmmmm, how should I say this???? Annoying! They seem to try really hard to prove their worth. I've heard it referred to as "short man complex" or the "Napoleon complex."

I've dated a few short guys, ALL of whom were not truthful about their heights in their online dating profiles, on their driver's licenses, etc. I also dated one guy who had lifts in his shoes. He kicked off his shoes one time and dropped about two inches and I suddenly found myself looking down on him.

I just read a story about how France's Nicholas Sarkozy (who is 5'4") surrounds himself with staff shorter than himself and also uses a step stool when giving speeches. He also uses lifts in his shoes.

Society has been tough on short men and I feel like they have to try extra hard to get noticed sometimes. This can be frustrating for others around them to have to deal with. In my opinion anyway.

This is a complete BS stereotype...

since we're stereotyping how about I start some other ones... women with small breasts are usually insecure *******, tall men are conceited arrogrant pr!cks, people with blue eyes think too much of themselves and look down on others

I'm 6'2" and I can barely get to 3.14....so it's just a myth.

Huh?

One time a woman told me she liked my height so that I could put away cereal in the top cupboards. That was awkward. Why am I putting away her cereal?

Must have been a good night!

I'm convinced my husband married me so I can change light bulbs, paint the ceiling and lift heavy furniture.
