We have separate bank accounts. He pays for everything house related because he makes 3 million times more money than I do. I pay for all of my own personal expenses - clothes shopping, ballroom dance stuff, cars. We do have a joint account for buying groceries - but I don't contribute to it. I spend it and he replenishes it.
Good luck finding this arrangement with the cabana boys you're dreaming about!

Well, that's about right! Which is not to diminish your real job, though! You can't pay me enough to do your job!
I'm just wondering about other couples financial arrangement are/were when you got married? For example, does your husband/wife pays for abc and the other pays for xyz? Or is it that one pays for it all or is there a joint in everything? I'm just wondering? What is/was yours?
To clarify, I'm not talking about the wedding itself but the life together afterwards.
Everything except my husband's inheritance from his parents is joint.
From day one, some 27 years ago, we joined our accounts. For the past 17 years, we have owned our own company so I manage the financial end of things. I am the one who created the savings accounts, paid all the bills. He says he goes and kills it, and I make it into what we need. Seriously, we discuss all major purchases, and it works out fine. He does not want to know how much we owe, or even who we owe. If he needs something for business, he will ask me if we can do this or that and I tell him. Sometimes I wish he would sit down and allow me to tell him what is owed but he will not.

mrstewart's "real" job is her family, that other stuff she does is secondary.
JMHO of course.
