Default ???Workplace Revenge????

Have you ever (or do you now) work with someone that you absolutely DESPISE for whatever reason....... and you've subsequently gotten some sort of revenge???????

I have yet to get revenge, duno if the opportunity will ever present itself.........

but I work with THE most incompetent assistant manager, she can barely do 1/8 of her job..... IF that........

and I work with a TYRANT for a store manager.........

I HATE them both. Hate is a strong word, but they are appropriate in this situation. They've both done MULTIPLE things over the past year that have ASTOUNDED me as to how a human being can TREAT another human being! Absolutely astonishing! I can't believe either are in a position of authority.........

Have you ever worked with someone you despised, what were they like, how did they make your life hell and did you ever manage to exact some sort of revenge?????

SHARE!

Yes, I won't go into the story for fear someone who knows the story may come on (it made the news), but a co-worker was someplace she wasnt' supposed to be and I got hurt at work and now she's trying to make it look like it was due to my incompetence when really it was hers. I had a talk w/ my boss today about it b/c I'm trying to cover my own A$$. I doubt anything will happen to her though--I'm not really a vengeful person, but I'm not going to let her get me fired either. She's also done a couple of other things to make it look like I'm not doing my job, but most of us at work have her number and her game is going to backfire--I'm new but I have way more friends on staff than she does.

Yes, I have worked with some real winners, from the guy who seemed to be one fuse away from exploding into a steroid-fueled rage to a raging alcoholic. Perhaps the worst, however, was a diminuitive Napolean clone with glasses that were a cross between Elvis Costello and Elton John. He had minions who would spy for him and carry out his dirty work and revenge, which could be immensely frustrating for those who had to deal with this person.

While he was lateral to me, we did have an overlap of staff in one department, and he could attempt to derail projects and build coalitions against me in some sick, twisted game he'd play so that he could be the martyr and save the day. Well, I never fell prey to his games, taking work off-site and actually staying up until 2-3am with a core group of my loyalists to derail him. One time we got him good, and he had egg all over his face, since his minions were reporting that we were nowhere finished with a joint project (something that I seeded through people I know), and he did not feel the need to burn the midnight oil to get things done, thinking he could blame my group.

Well, come the meeting where things were to merge, we presented and he tried some lame excuse about some random technology issue, completely localized to his corner of the office. Needless to say, we took his part of the project, and the overlap in staff was reduced since his lack of leadership had been known for a while and this was the final straw. So, the overlap he and I had ended, but he always sought revenge on me, yet was sickeningly sweet to my face, though was unsuccessful, until the day he was escorted from the premises.

I do suspect that he, or one of his minions, had something to do with the scratches my vehicle received in the parking garage, but I could not prove anything. That little stunt, if it was their handy work, almost got the garage valet fired since the damage occurred in the garage. However, we were able to interviene with their supervisors, and explained that it was some sort of random situation that had nothing to do with his handling of my vehicle, and that I was not claiming it on their insurance policy.

The alcoholic was at one of my first positions and he could be nice and after lunch, watch out as the abuse would fly. And, he was the divisional president, known for the mood swings. Well, he reduced people to tears, threatened others, and was a general bully. Things were fine until he did that to me over something that was my assistant's responsibility. So, he went on vacation a couple of days later, I called a couple of people I knew, one of whom wanted me, and had a new position the next day. I faxed my notice to our CEO's office and my next to last day was the day he returned from vacation. He had no idea what hit him and tried to be nice and bring me back in the fold, and when I refused, he threatened me. I laughed it off, and later found out that he got in trouble for driving me away to a competitor, since they wanted me to fix some problems with an area of the company's business, not strengthen the competitior who was already crushing them.

What I can say about such situations is that they are beyond stressful. Such people are agonizing to deal with, even when they do not have supervisory control over you. So, while I would not do anything that could cross the line, there are ways to diffuse such people and get back at them to either get the behavior to stop or bring the situation out into the open for a good old fashioned dose of justice.

I have not exacted any revenge but here is a synopsis of my two managers from hell:

Asst Manager: Has been in the current position for almost two years, but yet EVERYDAY she asks how to do the simplest transactions (such as returns and exchanges). If we have to ask her to do something that only a manager can do, you better believe she doesn't know how to do it. She constantly micromanages when it comes to the most UNimportant things (and usually at the WRONG times also!)..... she is completely and utterly incompetent. SHe also has NO social skills whatsoever and speaks to not only the employees in an incorrect and demeaning manner, but also speaks to CUSTOMERS like that. I can't tell you how many customers have SAID she is HORRIBLE at her job and that she spoke down to them....... but yet NOTHING has been done to get her OUT of the position she's in........

Manager: He is egotistical as ALL hell. He is a TYRANT. Here is how one particular situation went down (and there have been others): I was helping a customer purchase what they wanted, they stepped away for two seconds to get one more thing that they wanted. It took them all of 20 seconds to go to the peg, pick the thing they wanted and bring it back. My manager looks dead at me and goes "FILL THE CABINETS" (with product).... I try to look at him with a blank expression, but I have a hard time doing that, so I'm sure the "What the hell????" question in my mind raced across my face for a second. I responded back that "I'm already helping someone with something, they are coming RIGHT back" (And he could SEE them coming back)..... he goes "FILLLLLL the CABINETS!!!!". Right as he's saying it a second time the customer is already back at my terminal........ I finish with the customer.......... fast forward a few minutes, my manager pulls me into his office and proceeds to yell at me that I shouldn't ever question what he tells me to do. I very point blank said "It didn't make ANY sense for you to ask me to do something when I was CLEARLY already helping a CUSTOMER (who is suppose to come first!),"..... he responds with, "YOU DO WHAT I SAY WHEN I SAY IT, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO MAKE SENSE!"................... and that is NOT the first time he's said some nonsensical things like that. He's a complete and utter tyrannt who cares about no one but himself.

Why don't you apply for a management position yourself with your company? Otherwise, most managers are incompetent because competent people don't want their job. I've never wanted to go into management.

If a job had co-workers that bugged me that much, I would just find another job and leave.

Id agree with MIU, if youre that unhappy because co-workers badger you, just quit.
I love my job, the people are great, management is pretty much on-top of things, and its like family there, just about everyone watches your back (I dont mean literally, lol)! Though there are few there that are unhappy for one reason or other, but to each their own.

I say either quit or keeping looking for something else. Life isn't like the movies where there's a big scene near the end of the film where the hero/heroine gets vindication and the bad guy gets his/hers.

Six months ago I finally got another job in another industry and was able to leave the law office of hell after seven very looooonnnnnnggggg years. I had a controlling, narcisstic, menopausal boss who was great friends with another menopausal woman who worked in the same office and held the same job title as I did, only on a part-time basis.

Don't waste your life and your energy plotting revenge against these people - are you going to be there in five years? Don't you imagine something better for yourself elsewhere? Do you lie awake at night thinking about them? Been there, done that. It makes you tired and ages you. And it wears your brain out.

Either quit or keep looking for a job when you're not working. If you've got time, join an outside activity that makes you feel better about yourself. These two people only get their self-worth from working with you, sounds like it.

I sure wouldn't want to work with or know them - they seem like really ugly people! (So even if they think they have power over you at work, nobody else would want to get near them outside of work. So they lose power that way, too.)

Don't you work selling cellphones or something? I know that in many businesses, the underlings (sales and wait staff) with their commissions and gratuities make way more than their managers. But those in management are hoping that they are on a better career path, they have a title and they slog it out in their suits.
