I know this is just a lighthearted thread, but anytime I ever caught even a whiff of a line, I shut down like the security doors in the intro of the original "Get Smart" series. Have they ever actually worked??? (And I'd like to hear it from the women, not the men. )

I'm sure if they were funny and original they would at least open the window of conversation.
That's what I'm saying, though, it wouldn't for me. It just instantly turns me off. It seems calculating. Not to mention corrrrrny.
For me, corny is kind of the point. I'd try them to see if they would laugh or not. If they didn't I'd think they were more stuck up than anything and walk away. If I got them to chuckle a bit I might try introducing myself and starting a conversation.

I never used them to actually try to bed a woman.
Well, corny or funny is fine; it's the straight-up, obvious line I'm talking about. (Some of the lines posted in here passed corny a long way back, not to mention offensive, but that's another story. ) But if it works for you, that's great. I'll be the stuck-up one who missed out.
