No one enjoys getting their ego stroked by like minded thinkers or people you find appealing? You don't ever find yourself fishing for attention and complements?

Huh?? No...I've never viewed this site as a way to get my ego stroked. What an interesting view, though.

Sure I like like-minded and appealing people! Doesn't everybody? Just said a few days ago that I'm active on forums because it's more likely to find people on a similar wavelength than in real life. I'm not about to claim that pecking on a keyboard and meeting monikers is better than the same situation in flesh and blood, but if such connections are otherwise missing, it's still better than nothing.

I certainly do agree with that. I do think it's useful to hear different points of view though...helps me remember that it ain't all about me.

Well, I know I don't fish for compliments or attention, but I think I can see where many would - just like in real life. And yes, I do -now & then- like it when someone agrees with me or thanks me for info on a city post. But I wouldn't really call that ego stroking; definitely not narcissistic. IDK, maybe it's just nice sometimes to think our individual voices actually get heard once in a while. I mean, I could write a letter to the editor of a newspaper or magazine; but there's no guarantee it will get read or even published. Here, your opinions are out there, bare to the world. I've read too many posts that I would bet the poster thought, "OH S**T!!!" as soon as it was too late to edit it. I have had one or two myself. <shrug> guess we just like knowing we connect amidst the chaos.
On the other hand, if you are referring to just the relationship forum (as I'm beginning to think that's what you meant);
then I will just evoke Gilda Radnor's character on SNL......"oh...never mind...."

Your age is clearly coming through Piper. Dad used to tell me about that SNL skit. Particularly the relationship forum, BTW. Attention whores everywhere. Hell, even I enjoy the limelight, which I why I began to question my own motives for posting here.
