Hmm, I wonder if it morphed into its current meaning similarly to "phat."

"Oh, NO, baby, nonononono, I would never call YOU fat! I was saying PHAT ... which means, um, pretty hot and, uh, tasty. Yeah, that's it."

I wonder if some guy saw his wife referring to him as DH and she hastily told him it meant dear husband.

For the ladies from the 80's, remember this one?

LYLAS.

Ok, tell me what it means.

Usually that's the same thing.

In my experience, no woman appreciates her husband like a widow. Especially if he had the foresight to make good investments and buy plenty of life insurance.

My grandfather died before I was born and my GM was a widow for 39 years. If there was ever an unrecognized candidate for sainthood, he was it.

Even my Mother occasionally has a good thing or two to say about my father, now that he's gone. I just pinch myself, if the urge to introduce some reality into the conservation, is about to overwhelm my better judgment.

You yanks seem to like your acronyms, lol.

A few I didn't get until recently...

TLC = Tender loving care, apparently

BFF = Best friends forever, um, okay lol

Are there any 'obvious' ones you don't get or only got recently?
BUDWEISER= Because u deserve what each individual should enjoy regularly.

I hate those d*** things. How long could it possibly take to type out the word? There are a couple I use and I've been considering quitting as I sometimes get private messages asking what they mean. They're annoying.

It's an internet thing, not an American thing.

Stop calling us yanks too. It's stupid.

Oh, I always liked the whole "Yanks" thing. It kind of has a WWII feel to it. I imagine a bunch of pilots standing around in a pub singing with mugs of beer in their hand. "Can I buy you another pint, Yank?"
