lets hear the horror stories of dating a co-worker
i just dated a coworker and it didnt end too well
luck for me i dont have to see her for a few weeks cause i work in a different building.
but i have to go to her building in a few weeks and her office is right down the hall from me
its gonna be awkward
i know dont dip your pen in company ink bla bla bla
but i thought this one would work
well by no fault of mine it didnt
i havent talked to her for a while and i know im gonna see her in a couple weeks
this is a big no-no. but in today's world the ethics, in and out of the office, vary vastly compared to the 50's and not so recent past. In todays world people choose to do things that were once viewed as wrong much more frequently than they ever have. To some degree humans are human at the end of the day. some people don't have the discipline or the backbone to do what is right and they cross the line. however, i'm not sure that is much of a problem in today's world. yesteryear, of course it was frowned upon and many lost their jobs due to it. just feel it out with your employer, that's my only advice.
I dated a woman I worked with, and it wasn't too bad. Of course, she and I were pretty focused on the job at the office rather than cooing at each other all the time. In fact, nobody knew we were dating for a couple of months until somebody saw us eating dinner together.
That being said, it really, really depends on the maturity of the two people involved. After all, the last thing other people want to see is your dramas played out in staff meeting. What happens outside the office stays outside the office. No banging on the worktable or the copier, either.

Now where is the fun in that?
I personally have never done it but my sister met her husband at work, however they work for different companies now. But they are still together so that counts as a coworker success story right?

Dating people at work can be ok. I met my present husband at work and we did just fine. We kept our relationship quiet and made sure above anything else the office busybody didn't know. I looked for another job and he stayed at the place where we met.
Yes, you are going to feel awkward because the relationship didn't work but once the initial awkwardness hits, things will ease up. Kinda like walking on a bed of nails...head up, straight through it and its over. I can feel your uncomfortableness with this but trust me....it won't be as bad as you think. Talk to her if you want, or don't talk to her. It seems to me that you are in control of this situation. Do what you have to do and let her end up being worried about what you are thinking. I am sure she is nervous about seeing you as well....hmmm?
a co-worker I thought was a butch lesbian with bad BO had the hots for me and wanted to date me and I was like ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I nearly threw up on her whenever I seen her around.
I would generally avoid it. I could imagine it being quite painful if the breakup was one-sided.
