Hey. Kids learn that stuff from their parents, sorry to say. If you're a hothead with a foul mouth, then the apple won't fall very far from the tree.

If I'm really furious with one of my children, I leave the room, count to ten, and walk back in. Doesn't happen often.

Yeah, well, flinging a spoon at the door doesn't exactly count as adult behavior either. So neither of you are exactly a model for what to do.

Again, kids learn from their parents. If this is how you express anger, then they'll think that's how they're supposed to behave. It's just a terrible lesson to teach them.

I don't fall into rages often, but most of my life I've had tendencies to pop off hurtful things. And I often did mean what I said ~ only at the time I said it. Other times I'd say things I knew I didn't mean but knew it would hurt.

But it isn't always productive. I've been working on this problem for several years now. It was about time I learned to think before I bellow in anger.

In that case, you have a very immature significant other

Responsible adults learn how to control themselves in all situations and don't speak to people they claim to love that way.

I'll agree with that, but what it lead up from was me coming into the bedroom after having taken a shower and asking his son who was laying in our bed eating cereal if he could leave for a few mins while I got dressed and he told me to leave and go dress in the bathroom.

I was told to laugh it off, I can see that one or two times but it is the type thing that happens often.
