No, my family hadn't arrived yet. I shared it with family when they arrived but I felt like I should've said thank you. I didn't even try to find out who sent it after the bartender said they want to remain anonymous because I was embarrassed for sitting there by myself. I felt like a barfly.

I think, in most states, it would have been illegal to carry the bottle home after it had been opened. Which implies the expectation that the whole bottle would have been consumed on the premises. And that narrows it down to just a few outcomes. One might have suggested that the bartender offer glasses of Baileys on the house until the bottle was gone, to whomever was in the bar. But, I haven't been in a bar in about 40 years, so what do I know, besides what I've seen in the movies, and if I saw this in a movie, I'd have said "Oh, come on, give me a break".

Well, it sounds as if the sender hadn't thought matters through before sending the bottle. He was probably half-crocked. Had you accepted the bottle, he probably would have gotten indignant 15 minutes later and said, "Well, how come she hasn't invited me over?"

A bottle of a sipping drink is a bit strange, especially for one person. Maybe the sender knew you had some ties with management. A thank you is all thats needed. I wouldn't have accepted a bottle.

That's true. Actually a bottle of vodka on ice, no glass, and a lampshade (to use as a hat) would have been more appropriate IMHO.
