Women, Relationships, and Hormonal birth control
WOMEN: If you are currently in a satisfying marriage or long-term relationship, were you taking birth control when you met you s.o.?
Question prompted by studies such as this:
Birth Control Affects Sexiness of a Man`s Scent - Lifestyle - Javno
FYI - Amongst my 4 of my married friends so far, the answer is NO.

Yes first time. No after my first marriage because I had a tubal. The study didnt say what caused the shift. I would guess either the estrogen or progestin. If that is the case what happen with our smell during our cycle or menopause? I think the study is crap, but I guess it dosent hurt to sniff a guy before you go out with him.

I wasn't on any oral contraceptive when I met my husband (we used condoms.) I had never been on any hormonal BC until I started dating my husband.
Eventually I went on Depo Provera. I knew nothing about it, but my husband had mentioned that his ex-wife used it and that she just had to get a shot every 3 months. I was sold! OMG...I turned into a psycho-b*tch on that stuff!! Fortunately we were able to figure it out before it destroyed our relationship (and me...it through me into major depression.) Turns out, my husband thinks it may have contributed to his divorce. It wasn't until a few years later when we questioned whether his ex-wife's behavior was related to the BC.

Nearly the same symptoms happened to a good friend of mine! She started acting a bit nutty after starting depo, lost a TON of weight, started freaking out about everything, quit her job and broke up with her fiance.... after she stopped nearly everything went back to normal. It was very odd.

Wow glad you figured it out! Sad for the ex, though. I hope she's doing better also.

I won't take a BC pill anymore. I'm pretty much attracted to NO ONE when I am on one. I generally feel like a robot when taking a BC pill. I don't like the idea of taking hormones anyway....
