Not necessarily. It can be something like: "We are going to be FWB until we both find somebody we like better."
But I'm sure for some people it is just a booty call. For others it is more like a good friend you sleep with.
Either way they aren't exactly built to last.

Has dating been that horrible for most you? If so, I am so so very glad that I am not dating.

No. It's for people that for whatever reason aren't ready for a relationship but want sex.
Biggest problem is when people realize they actually WERE ready for one or become ready for one.
I don't think I could EVER FWB...unless it was just the right circumstance and it could never ever work out with the other person and we BOTH knew that up front. (A built in kill-switch)

Like for example if you gained 200 pounds, are bed ridden, and the lady was doing you out of pity

See I don't think I could sleep with someone who I knew up front had no future. Maybe I am the odd man on this one. So much of my enjoyment comes from the reward of pleasuring someone I care about. IDK it just seems to me that if you can work out a FWB with someone than you could just "be" with that person.

I don't understand why people keep confusing FWB with one-night stands with strangers. How does having "no future" (i.e., no plans to get married or live together) translate into "not caring" about one's lover? Are you required by law to "not care" about a lover that you don't see yourself with in some suburban fantasy?

It sounds awesome the way you describe FWB.

I am referring to the description that said it is someone you have dates with, do fun things with but have clearly defined rules on the level of commitment. I am not talking about a suburban fantasy of the house two cars two kids and all that.
I am just saying I find it hard to see where a friendship that is sexual could stay just a friendship.

You are referring to me, I used the word "attachment." This is having a handle on one's emotions.
You used the word "Commitment"; this word (to me) defines a relationship mainly in terms of length of time. I believe that this usually does involve someone's dreams of a blue minivan and a mortgage.
The two are not the same, although it is true that you'd limit both.

Rep for this
"Care about.." has become a euphemism for "Wanting to move forward.."
Apparently if you don't want to marry them in the near future, you don't care about them.
