That's the best news I've heard all day. Love them doggy stories.

These are great responses. I have to agree on most of them (haven't experienced all of them - thanks, some of you guys out there ).

Sunsets, definitely. They can be incredible. It sounds so cliche ("I like walks on the beach"), but they can blow you away.

The World Trade Center; to this day, I can't watch without gasping in horror and sheer disbelief, even though I know it's already happened. I know most people feel the same way. Just hearing the people's reactions in the video footage is chilling.

And as far as reading Message in a Bottle, I remember reading the end of Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz. My SO had already read it and was watching my expression as I finished it. That got me.

I think the last thing that caused me to literally gasp out loud was while MM was here last. He'd asked if we would see koalas and as I don't come across them often in the wild anymore I'd arranged for us to go to a wildlife park just in case.

We were driving on the Great Ocean Road one day and we stopped at an historical marker that was downhill in a little clearing from the roadside lay over which was all surrounded by trees. He got out and went exploring in the bush, disappearing from view while I stayed in the car. After about 5 minutes I was a little concerned he might have fallen off the cliff (not an unusual occurance on the Great Ocean Road) so I hopped out of the car to go find him when this rather loud crashing and thumping came from the undergrowth beside me and I gasped out loud when a rather large koala thudded out from the undergrowth and latched itself onto a tree beside me! By that stage I was calling to MM, "QUICK!! QUICK!!!" He thought I was worried about him but all I wanted was for him to HURRY UP and come see the koala. I haven't seen one down low and then climbing like that since I was a kid.

Yep. I was scuba diving, poking around a small reef and a large moray eel popped out at me and scared the bejesus out of me. I think I sucked in half my remaining air in one gulp. That ended the dive for that day.

"Has anything ever caused you to literally gasp out loud?"

I asked my wife this question, she said "The first time I saw you naked".
