There was a thread a couple days back talking about why people go to prostitutes etc. Well here is a more interesting question, why do people go to see strippers?
I mean seriously. You are basically paying to see a naked girl dance around. She isn't going down on you or having sex with you. Seems like a great way to get blue balls. Watching an extremely sexy girl dance around knowing you'll never get to have her (unless of course she is a prostitute). Not to mention a major punch in the ego. You have to PAY to see a naked girl....
To top if off, going to a stripper seems even more ridiculous when you consider how much porn is on the internet FOR FREE.
I've only been to a strip club once and personally didn't get much out of it. Seemed like a pretty popular place for depressed married guys.
AND...if you want to have a drink, it usually means the girls are not fully nude. In NJ you can still smoke in adult clubs...which makes it even worse. Yuck.
What's the big deal? If people want to see strippers that's their prerogative. Strip clubs are pretty popular so, obviously, these people are getting something out of it. Maybe they just want the social interaction. Pretty girls on the internet can't interact, strippers can. **shrugs** who knows.
I think because they can claim that they aren't prostitutes. They can believe the strippers are wholesome girls just working their way through college and when they arrange paid sex with them it doesn't seem quite the same as prostitution.

I don't know the percentage but many of these girls/clubs offer sex for the right price; its just one of those don't ask don't tell so as long as you stuff the right pockets including the city officials. This is what goes on in the VIP rooms; not every time but sometimes....
I've not been to a strip club, not sure if I'd go, but I'd consider it. Quite apart from sex, I find it extremely enjoyable to see attractive women nude in general, moreso in person than on a screen. The comparison to prostitutes seems like a non-starter. Not everyone who goes to a strip club would be willing to hop into the sack with just anyone, let alone pay for sex. Many likely go for exactly what a strip club offers - hot women in the nude. I don't see why its an ego reducer either. Most women aren't particularly willing to strip for you even if you're a hot guy =P. Sure you could go to a bar or club, try to pick up a woman, etc, but maybe you don't feel like doing that, or maybe you are the relationship type but are presently single, or maybe you want to go out with your buddies, or maybe you aren't into the bar scene.
My point, I guess, is not everyone who goes to a strip club is a desperate person seeking a legal alternative to prostitution.
