I'm starting to notice it's ok to tell a woman -"I'm unemployed"
I guess it's because of the economy and the news about jobs downsizing because when I have told a woman I was not working she was still interested in getting to know me.
Now if this was 7 years ago I don't think I could have said that and have a woman say things like
"Can I treat you to Lunch?"
I was thinking I was not Qualified to Date-lol

I didn't accept her invitation because I was busy with Job searching duties. Did not have time for lunch at 1pm on a Tuesday

Hey, what's wrong with being honest and direct? If you're looking for a job, that's what counts. If you don't have a past of being a bum or living on someone's sofa, then what the heck. The economy sucks. If someone you meet doesn't know that, maybe they need to wake up.

I guess since I live alone and was looking for a job it made my status more acceptable

In the current environment, being out of work is so common that I would hate to think people were bailing on potential relationships just because of that. As long as you are seriously looking, I can't imagine that any woman with a brain would hesitate in getting to know you better.
Good luck with both the job search and the woman.

I suppose it is a *little bit* more socially acceptable to come clean with this as of late.

A bit more acceptable? I came from the midwest where you heard of daily layoffs and firings. Now it has hit the southwest. Are people that uninformed as to what is going on?
If someone won't even go out on a date with someone who lost their job, and folks, this ISN't marrying them for pete's sake, how would they ever be someone you'd want to go through good and bad times with?

I think the rationale for the OP's original post is that if you're out of work and aren't sure how you will be supporting yourself in the immediate future, finding dates should not be your most pressing concern anyway.
