...nor does the desire to have sex indicate that a man is a predator. Suggestions that men who use prostitutes "would then go out and violate innocent women and children" are laughably ignorant.

Right, nor can we legalize activities that will still be in demand, such as child prostitution, unprotected sex and torture.

There may be legitimate reasons to legalize prostitution, but "people are just going to do it anyway" is one of the flimsiest and intellectually problematic around.

Its clear why child prostitution is illegal, I didnt realize unprotected sex was or "torture" as long as it was consentual.

People who support legalized prostitution insist that it can exist as a well-regulated industry. Hookers will receive health care, birth control, STD screening, etc., and everything will be clean and tidy. In order to keep STDs and pregnancy at a minimum, I believe condoms and additional birth control methods would be required--I don't see how they possibly could not be. But many men, and probably a few of the much smaller female clientele, don't like using a condom. Bareback sex will always be in demand, and I don't see how it could be legal (in the context of prostitution), with the exception of perhaps some bizarre scenario of STD and isolation. Why would a john do that, when he can still get a streetwalker who will do him without a condom?

The same goes for torture. BDSM wouldn't be allowed by OSHA. Even if it were, I work for a workers' comp company and can just imagine the insurance policies that would be required. That's not to say that being tied up and spanked cannot be an awful lot of fun, but that's not really something I want my government regulating.

If everyone would just have sex with their partners regularly, there would be no need for prostitutes.
