For my 40th we rented out the Palm Springs Air Museum and had a 1940's party around the old warbirds, everyone dressed in 40's style and we had an orchestra playing dance music of the 40's. It was so much fun!!!
Ok, next March I turn 40 and want to do something kinda fun and crazy.
Besides Vegas, has anyone done anything fun like that? I'm looking for suggestions since you guys seem to be a lot more creative than me.
Guidelines are:
1) No kids.
2) I'm bringing a gal with me
3) It should fit in a long weekend so that rules out something like say...going to Italy.
4) Might invite friends\family to meet up there
I'm also thinking of maybe sky-diving or doing something else different like that. Just getting out of my comfort zone type stuff.
Do what i did and that was spend it all day at an amusement park as i went to Sea World Orlando and enjoyed the shows and rides (The Kraken) as that was my fun at 40. LOL, you could always ride the Incredible Hulk at Universal Studios Orlando for example .
I think I want to go someplace warm that I've never been to before but I have to keep the trip kinda short since I will be busy with work at that time. (3 days or so)
I'm thinking southern florida, maybe the keys...deep sea fishing...never done that. Although I've never been to Mexico and some of the inclusive resorts there sound fun.
Or fly-fishing the Snake River (during warmer months of course.)
When our friend turned 40, he and my husband went to Bradford Camps and thought it was awesome. (I'll be setting up another trip for my husband when he turns 40.)
ETA: Disregard my suggestions since I just noticed you're looking for some place warm.
Sky diving? No. That much out of the comfort zone? Don't recommend it.
You're in the heartland, from what I recall. How about a 3-day weekend cruise out of Fort Lauderdale/Miami that is able to go to the Bahamas and back (I guess it can be "packaged" with the air fare)? In that time frame, you would probably call on only one port.
In March, the weather in that part of the U.S. is ideal.

This would have been my suggestion. I did a four day Bahamas cruise out of Port Canaveral in December 2007. Weather was nice, and I'm sure would be better when you're going.
You're taking a gal, you say. Are you assuming you'll still be with the same one you're with now, or just figuring even if this one doesn't work, there will still be a long line of hopefuls to be the next Mrs. Mathguy (or at least a fun 40th b-day plaything?)
A 40 year old needs to toughen up and behave like one. So stay in doors and read the newspaper in dark room.
Or you can be a big baby and go to Chuck E Cheese for fun and games????
