I love pro football, so I am the one on Sunday and Monday night in my Archie Bunker chair, beer in one hand, the other down my shorts. Don't bother me.
There are a couple of guys I work with like that. Drone on and on and on about who won last night, who's getting traded, who failed their **** tests.
Blah, Blah, Blah
Some guys just never grow out of it...there's a couple at my office too...They go at it like a couple of broads arguing over shoes or handbags. I'm a casual hometeam fan at best.
I've always prefered my sports "played" as opposed to "watched" anyway.
Sports are okay if you have a limit to how much time
Will be spent in front of the TV in a given day
I can see the hubby in front of TV for super bowl but
That is it, he and I would much rather go to a game in
Person then be cooped up in the house all day, beside
The weather is getting nice it’s time to take our 2 dogs
Out for hikes in the woods all day, or get away for a
Weekend camping trip.
I have been around those sports addicted folk's, and to be truthful I'd have to say that I think there is more than just an obsession going on here. A lot of the "fan" types seem to be coming up short in the social graces dept. I've noticed this to be the case with most of them, not immediately obvious but over time they can't hold up their end of a conversation that isn't about sports, or they are busy watching it on the tube. It has become a kind of second language also, there is nothing more humorous than listening to these guy's carry on with their best attempts to utilize all the snappy talk they have learned from TV sports announcers, when the subject goes off that topic they look like deer in the lights. My ex son in law was just this type of guy, nice person, polite, and all of that, but he just didn't know why my Daughter was leaving. She got tired of arranging her life around the "games", she was burnt out from all the times she and the kid's were waiting for a game to end so they could go someplace, and then he was still thinking about the game and wanted to talk about the finer points of what he was just watching. There are all kinds of reasons for someone to be this involved, but, I still see it as a substitute for a real life.
