You're not one of those random faces with the fake names on the back of a Home Depot DoDads book are you?

My friend had a boyfriend named Malachy (pronounced "Mal-ik-eye", emphasis on the first syllable). He was abusive, she had to get a restraining order on him, later he did time in prison and (much later) I heard that he'd died of a drug overdose.
The name has unpleasant associations for me.

I like Veronica, for a girl (although I don't like the nickname, "Ronnie", at all).
I like Alister for a boy.

Sometimes I like place names, geographical names, for both boys and girls.
India, England, whatever. London. (Not Paris, but only because of the paris Hilton association).
There are many names like this in my family history; I had a great-grandmother named Arizona, a great-aunt Tennessee, and another great-great-grandmother (or maybe it was my great-great-great-grandmother) named America.

Wow that's terrible! I've only met one Malachy, he was a childhood friend.

I'll always associate that name with the character from Children of the Corn.

Amy
Jennifer
Kate

Never dated any with those names, that might be it, but I don't think so. They just come across as more low maintenance, but still fun, and cute as far as initial names go.
