I just don't understand this. Why, in a million years, would the parent of a young child have anything to do with a convicted sex offender?

Is this someone you know? Someone in the news?

I think they're nuts.

Peeing outside within 2 miles of a school is considered a sexual offense here, so you'd need to be a bit more specific.

I've never been accused or done anything like this, but I won't go with the knee-jerk reactionary crap that's prevalent and say anyone that does is out of their mind.

Frankly, I consider some of our laws to be asinine, you're meant to pay a debt to society, then at least given the chance at a normal life after, otherwise wtf's the point of letting them out at all? Might as well just put the penalties all the way up, because there's no way in hell most are ever going to stay out of jail if there's no real incentive to be a productive member of society, or be considered as such no matter what you might do.

If anyone I know has been charged with messing with a child in the wrong way, I will cut ties as much as possible.

I'm not talking about people geting freaky in a car and getting caught. I'm talking about a real deal pedophile. Even if it is a family member.

I would keep my child away if I had to mingle with them for some reason.

Boy, I'll tell you, I am much more open to a woman having an affair with a married man than a sex offender!!!

Are you referring to the woman in Michigan who was having a relationship with a sex offender (not a man peeing near a school!) and her daughter ended up in a concrete slab?? Sick stuff, I tell ya'...

Yeah, and I'm sorry, even if it's the 30yr old teacher diddling the 15yr old boy, it's usually simply due to wanting someone that wants you and giving into it. It's certainly not right in those instances, but when do you actually give them a chance again?

I actually get sick of the phone calls I get here from the county cops "informing" me of a convicted sex offender, it's in most cases like "warning" me there's someone going over the speed limit nearby, as it was probably just some local 19 yr old kid getting it on with the 16yr old neighborhood girl he's known for years.

Gawd, I thought about that very comparison earlier. It was in A Time To Kill where a witness was discredited for that very thing. He married her.

Back to the show......
