My husband seems to do everything for me. He seems to only want to make me happy. He is awesome. I, personally, am not into receiving roses, etc. but he would give me whatever I ask for, if he possibly could.

I believe that considering your dilemmas some time ago...
I mean, he just seems to do everything I suggest I want done out here, at our new place. He is worried to death about me and my son being out here alone, while he works 3rd shift, that he went to look at hand guns today. It has been years since I shot a gun! I couldn`t possibly shoot anyone! I would freeze.
Anyway, if we happen to get one, it will be put up, out of reach, from the little hands....for sure! Thats scary!

Just get one of those so many fingers used lock-boxes for it.
Although, even with the slightly hillbilly background I have, I still never quite got it for that use. I could see getting a carry permit for it for yourself in the day/night out and about, but for the home? I just can't envision noting beforehand if it is a burglary or the like unless you don't have any pets or something.
Of course it takes a tactical warhead to wake me when I sleep, so I might be biased.
As for the actual topic: I did do this a few times for the one real love I had. Just little things. Still had to keep it "special", but often times I find just getting off your ass to just hug them out of the blue because they're 'your girl' does just as well. *shrug*
