Okay, so I've been emailing for less than a week with this one guy. He lives in New England but visits my area often. The emails have gone well, however he's becoming TOO flattering and too excited about getting my emails. Examples:
"Great to get an e-mail from you. Makes my day just to know that you are there and writing to me. I can think of nothing better then to be your friend."
Makes his day just to know I am here and writing? How is this possible with someone he has never met, in less than a week?
"I hope that you had a great day and that tomorrow is even better. I really am truly looking forward to finding out more and getting to know you. I definitely looking forward to getting to the point where we trust each and and discuss everything and anything. Every time I log on now I am looking for an e-mail from you."
Everything and anything, not gonna happen in general, but definitely not before we meet.
"How is you weekend? I do miss your e-mails."
This was after 3 days.
This kind of stuff has happened offline, but at least there was more personal interaction. I'll never understand how people fall in love online, or even get to this place before even meeting someone. I don't get it.
Maybe if you stop emailing him so much or answering his emails he will chill out.... the more you show him attention the more he is going to be there to receive it.
I have had several of those type letters and they're always from drop-dead gorgeous men who live 100+ miles away. For some reason they're always construction engineers too. My friend had a man who looked handsome enough to be a model try to fly in from London to see her--he was so eager (!), but then he called her and asked her to advance him some money on her credit card b/c the airport wouldn't take his, or some such crock o' shyt. My latest was a man who is 33 (to my 50), who thinks we might marry and have a life together. He mentioned that he is 6'5" and 110 lbs. Is that even possible? They're all probably based in Algeria or something (no offense to Algerians) and they're practically incoherent, with many language mistakes that a non-native speaker would make.

Yeah, fake. At 6'3 here, my supposed "ideal" weight is 200lbs. I would be dead at below 150 I'd imagine. Or at least make Karen Carpenter seem fat in her last days.
He's not being clingy, hes being pushy. Guys who date a lot and have several women going, usually treat them all basically the same. In a cheery, intimate (when theres no real intimacy), BS way. They know they are BSing you, but they do it cus they think thats what you want to hear. Therefore they don't reveal the real him. Its like another poster said, they are hurrying along trying to create intimacy that doesnt really exist so that you can go ahead and meet him so yall can have sex already.
This is a typical new letter that I often receive--this one is from 5 states over and the man is really, really good looking and 9 years younger than me. Mmmm hmmm sure. Also, nothing is written in his profile. I never answer these.

Ewww, sexbot. I think letters like those are mass-emailed in hopes of luring a few people to view the sender's "profile," which is an invitation to a pay site or something similar.
My husband and I get these over IM and through Skype Chat from time to time. "Oh hey, I just noticed your profile and think you're the one! Come see me at ..." Lame.
